Product Description and Applications
METALGUARD A40 will take your extended life antifreeze to higher performance levels by providing you with a Hybrid Organic Acid Technology (HOAT) additive system, the next step after straight OAT antifreezes. Straight OAT-type antifreezes are generally incompatible with conventional antifreezes utilizing inorganic salt inhibitor systems. However, HOAT formulations employ a carefully balanced combination of both carboxylate-based organic acid inhibitors and conventional inhibitors. As a result, antifreeze made with METALGUARD A40 can be mixed with most major brands of straight-OAT and conventional antifreezes without the precipitation problems encountered with non-hybrid products.

METALGUARD A40, when blended correctly, produces antifreeze can meet ASTM D3306 and ASTM D4985 specifications for conventional antifreeze as well as specifications for extended life coolants. Antifreeze/Coolant made with METALGUARD A40 will provide a service life of 5 years or 150,000 miles. METALGUARD A40 is a non-phosphate based inhibitor package which contains long-lasting phosphonocarboxylates and other proprietary ingredients to provide broad-range metal protection and guard the cooling system against corrosion and cavitation-erosion for many years. In addition, it contains additives to minimize hot surface scaling while also preventing heat transfer surface fouling due to minor oil leakage.

This extended life additive system can also be used with either virgin or high-quality reclaimed glycol from distillation units, reverse osmosis membranes, and most flocculation/filtration systems. WEBA Technology recommends that you send in sample of any non-virgin glycols that you are considering for use with any of WEBA Technology’s additive packages to a laboratory for testing, and send us the results. We will help you determine if any pretreatment will be necessary prior to blending antifreeze.
